Diana & Ben

Hello! My name is Diana.

I'm a young newlywed, a first year pharmacy student, and most importantly, a follower of Christ. I strive to please and honor Him in all that I do, including what I write in this blog.

During my freshman year of college, I started this blog as I first became interested in studying abroad, mostly as a way to document my journey. Now, years after my semester in New Zealand, it serves as a means to share my life with my friends and family, as my husband and I currently live a couple hours away from home.

I hope that this blog will be a blessing to all, whether you're reading about my grand adventures traveling abroad or my smaller, but much more rewarding, adventures as a young wife and student.

Study Abroad Update #2

Today was a big day. I submitted my visa application! After weeks of preparing documents and getting everything in line, I finally clicked "submit!" Now, I have to send my passport to the visa application center in Washington D.C., and another round of waiting begins. I got some good news, too! This whole time, I thought I was going to have to pay a visa fee of close to $250. But, the US and New Zealand have a deal where student exchange visas are free! (Yay! ) Also, we bought plane tickets today! I was fortunate enough to get a scholarship a few weeks ago to help me pay for the tickets, which turned out to be a lot cheaper than we anticipated. (Yay, again!) My itinerary is set, and I have a window seat on all my flights! (Even the one across the Pacific Ocean.) I've never been out of the country, and I've never flown longer than a couple hours. Getting to New Zealand will be an adventure in and of itself!   It's amazing to me how everything is comi...

Random Update

I'm halfway finished with my spring semester, and let me tell ya, it's been a rough one. I'm taking an extremely  tough course load, and I'm already playing that game where you check the syllabus after every test to see what you have to make on the next ones to get an A in the course. I'm trying to brace myself and my stubborn, perfectionistic pride for when I most likely get a B this semester, unless a miracle happens.  (Gasp! Shocking, right?)  Between Anatomy, Physiology, and Organic Chemistry, I'm constantly studying, which is great, but it can get tiring and overwhelming. Plus, I never feel like I can get ahead. Speaking of getting ahead... I've recently decided to finish undergrad a year early. I have to take a few classes this summer, but since Ben and I will be living in Knoxville anyway, I'm sure that will work out great. Study Abroad Update

For those of you who don't already know, I received an email a couple weeks ago informing me that my ISEP (International Student Exchange Programs) application was accepted!  This means, that my application will be reviewed for the exchange program, and if I am not able to get in, I will be placed into the direct study program.  What's the difference? Basically, the difference between the exchange and the direct program is the cost.  In the exchange program, I would "trade places" with a student at Massey University in Palmerston North (or Palmy North, as the Kiwi call it).  They would attend school here, I would attend school there, and we would each pay our home university. The benefit of this program is that my scholarships can be directly applied to the student's tuition and fees with little hassle.
